Comp Format

Both comps are tap out jam style. About 15 minutes. Free to enter — just walk onto the floor with a partner. As many rounds as needed — last couple standing. Each round is ~40 seconds and the tempo will change with each round. There will be a warm up song before jumping in!

NOTE: If there's a large number of competitors, we can provide you some helpers to run around and tap out on judges behalf.

Contestants may do other moves outside of swingouts as they feel whats appropriate to the music. Judges will tap people out at their discretion

Prizes: Street cred, bragging rights, and a Hopcats HopHat.

Each round gets progressively slower.

Songs have been edited to match the format — DJ just presses play on the correct song.

Fast Swing Out Comp

Each round gets progressively faster, starting at mid tempo.

Songs have been edited to match the format — DJ just presses play on the correct song.

DJ Role

Music will be provided to you already edited to fade out at the correct round length.Allow some breathing room between rounds (no more than ~1 minute) for judges to tap people out. The MC will give you a thumbs up or a shout to start a round, or ask for more time if the judges need it.When we get to the final couple, give them some time to dance and get recognition, but don't make them dance too long if they look gassed.
